Money isn't Real

[ ] Just did my first 'arrangement' at 36 and the biggest take away is;
[ ]
[ ] I've lost enough people to know that money isn't real.
[ ]
[ ] "It can't call you like your mom/dad does.
[ ] It can't make you old friends.
[ ] It can't make you young again.
[ ] It can't buy you real love.
[ ] It's just paper and some ink.
[ ] It'll never ask you how you feel.
[ ] A dollar doesn't make you rich when it comes to happiness."
[ ]
[ ] And I believe in working hard. It definitely help when you got it.
[ ] All I'm saying is don't bet your whole life on it.
[ ]
[ ] A lot of yall lead your lives based off what your have but no matter if you rich or poor one thing I've never and will never experience is a uhaul or brinks truck behind a Hurst
[ ]
[ ] If you're lucky enough to do something you love, great, but even then, yeah, you can spend your life saving up, but you'll never have enough that the family left behind doesn't fight over it. You ever did a will?

Smokey Mountains 2025

• As an empath, I have been the one depended on, needed, and don't get me wrong, I love helping and being there for people, especially my loved ones, but it's literally what I do for a living. Solidarity! Solidarity is what feeds my being, it's what feeds my soul; I need it, I live for it, I breathe for it.

• I can't be good at my job, I can't be a good father, i can't be a good son, I can't be a good brother, future husband, or anything without getting good within! I know that for foresure
"Knowing how to be solitary is central to the art of loving. When we can be alone, we can be with others without using them as a means of escape."
• SOLITARY keeps me in a place where I know my shit still stanks and that I'm soooooo small in this great big world.

Inauguration/MLK day

It seems very ironic that Inauguration Day is the same as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but this isn't the first time, and it won't be the last. This time only stands out more because, on one end, Dr. King, who was all about unity, freedom, and equality for all rooted in love, and on the other end, we have the inauguration of one of the most misogynistic, racist public figures of this century. A man who opposes everything i mentioned about which Dr. King fought for, marched for, and stood for.

So ironic? No. The universe just has a sick sense of humor sometimes. But today is fitting, because if nothing else, we should understand the crossroads at which the country finds itself. Everyone will take in this day as they may. I know people who are having inauguration parties (😳 I know, right?). I also know people who are going downtown to the march and will be watching the annual Dr. King service. Tomorrow will come for most of us, and so will our nation's ongoing struggle between chaos and community. That includes whether politicians try to heal the country or exploit divisions along lines of race, gender, and nationality; whether, in the words of Dr. King, we "learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools."

Unconditional Love: A Reality or an Ideal?

Recently had a deep discussion with a friend(female) who talked about lust in men and how men lose so much cause they can't love fully and deeply because there too busy in lust looking for any small thing a woman is lacking. So it had me thinking about unconditional love and if that's a real thing or not. When I hear that phrase used, I almost cringe. It's just a painful phrase, because, similar to "ego," I think it's an imaginary term, in the sense that it's only used when it benefits the person using it in that moment.

😬🀷🏾. I'll preface this by saying this is all my opinion. I think it was Chris Rock who famously said, "The only two things loved unconditionally in this world are women and dogs." A man is only loved to the extent that he provides something. Unconditional love is an overglorified expression, socially popular to make love seem more superior than it already is.

With that said, if you're reading this,  I want you to look back at your relationship(s) and really look in the mirror and ask yourself if you REALLY loved without conditions. Maybe you did; I'm not saying you didn't; I wasn't there. Loving with conditions is not a bad thing! Relationships are about service and trying to serve one another with as little judgment as possible and as much understanding as possible. So what are your thoughts you love bugs you.... 'We listen and we don't judge' here...

I believe that, as flawed human beings, truly unconditional love is inhumane.

President Trump wins A Second Term

I woke up to the same news as all of you. There will be some happy about it, some mad, some hurt, and some scared.

Politics is just a bunch of grandiose promises made by politicians who never truly have enough time to fulfill them. Is this one different? Of course, but not different on a political scale. It's different because we've never had someone like Trump leading this country. Now, whether you view that as good or bad depends on the person.

For Trump supporters, victory seems to be yours. My hope for you and him is that your intentions are well-placed. I hope he does all that you wish him to do to improve the lives of you and your loved ones. I truly hope that now the election has been won, you feel comfort, relief, and optimism for your president-elect. I also hope you look at your neighbors on both sides of you, in front and behind you, and are able to see them as equals and treat them decently, no matter their color, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality. I genuinely hope these are the greatest four years of your life.

Often times, in recurring situations, as this one is with it being his second term, if you want to see the future, read the history—the end! Haha, but look back on what he did in his first four years, and you'll typically see what the next four will look like. Again, whether that's good or bad for you is totally dependent on your individual circumstances.

To my scared folks, unfortunately there are some evils in this world that are just too large to overcome, it has to simply run its course unfortunately. Hate has always existed; it is quite literally what this country was built upon— crime, racism, sexism, slavery, hate against women, and now you have hate against LGBTQ+ people. It’s 2024, and it’s still very loud, arguably louder than it's been in a century, so guess what? It’s not going anywhere. Again, refer back to history.

There are many fears circulating among many different people, and they are justified. Ultimately, all you have are yourself and your loved ones. They're all you've ever had, so look after each other as best you can, stay prayerful, and if nothing else, if this feels like a storm to you, understand that all storms eventually pass. Weather it, survive it as you did the first time, and realize that on the bright side, you have four years down and four years to go. We all know that four years is not a long time. It will fly by, and God willing, we will be back here again, exercising our democratic right to vote.

Election Day in AMERICA

Yes, today is the day! It's here, and that's good news because now that we're here, it's almost over—political season. It will probably only last for the next four years, but the truth is our political season hasn't been this charged since the MAGA era. There's a reason for that!

If you know me or follow me anywhere, you know where I stand! It's no secret; I don't make it a secret. The bottom line is I value morals over money! I feel that's the nicest I can be. I give the MAGA group the benefit of the doubt by taking that stance. We know who Trump is; we knew who he was before he ever became a political figure. I tried to keep this as short as possible, but I realized I can't.

Regardless of who comes out victorious this week, it really doesn't matter to me! I'm 36 years old. I'm from the dirt, man. I remember living with my mom and siblings to make ends meet as a kid. I even remember putting too much water in the toilet so it would flush because it had too much in it when the water was cut off. My point is, me, I'll adjust because I have no other choice. I vote for my children because I know it matters to them! The same way my mom worked her a$$ off to give me a better life, yes, I'm in a position to give them a better life. The truth of the matter is the world is just in a better place, but the presidency is still a position that can be very costly, not to me and the people reading this, but the ones who come behind us. And Donald J. Trump is not someone who supports me or my kids.

I'm not here to talk about the man or his history. I'm here to talk about someone who's facing 34 felonies later this month. Who, if elected, will run our country either on, at best, will probably run our country on house arrest or, at worst, in a jail cell. YES, READ THAT AGAIN. Yes, never heard of, in this country or any other that doesn't have a dictator who controls that type of thing, so yes, I'll run too if it saved my a$$ from becoming a felon.

Let's examine the main points:

1st and probably his only [point] is Immigration! For me, that sub communicates: let's remove anyone and everyone who doesn't look like me! Name me one immigrant who looks like Trump. I'll wait, but you can't. It all follows his racist agenda. "They're criminals, they eat pets" literally came out of his mouth and was turned down by some of the people who lean the same way. It's not about the crime, because if it was, he'd fight the crime committed by Americans first. We certainly, as Americans, commit more crimes than any immigrant. He's facing 30+ crimes himself, and that's all that needs to be said on that.

Let's stop the immigration issue. That simply means anyone with pigment in their skin (which equals not white), let's remove them.

We've never had an invasion like January 6th in this country in all the years of this country. You'll never see it again unless he loses this week. Wait and see...

So, what's the other argument you've heard about through this run?

I don't even know, let's see...

Obamacare???

I mean, why would we help or fight the impoverished in this country? Oh, because they're...the most needed in this country? Lost causes? One of those richest economy in the world, why must we have to deal with poverty? To them we shouldn't, get em out of here 🀷🏾‍♂️. Someone who never experienced it, is foreign, send em to foreign land, that's how we make 'America great again' right?

What are the other points?
I'll wait.....

Abortion?
I'm a man, with a p€nis, I SHOULD NEVER AND WILL NEVER TELL A WOMAN WHAT TO DO IN THAT SITUATION. I'M A FATHER AND I MADE THAT DECISION WHEN I LAID DOWN AND DID WHAT I DID! Not proud, exclamation.

There really aren't anymore. Who are we kidding?

In conclusion, MAGA is one or two things. He takes control of this country, or he makes me money!

It's Morals>Money for me!

I'm 36, just think about 20 years ago, yes EVERYTHING was cheaper, it's the cost of living in a growing economy, $#!+ is going to cost more that's the bottom line. It's simply as supply vs demand. It's the price we pay to grow! The rich want to be richer, if you ever made money in your life, it just the thing you want more of! It's just as similar as power. You get a taste of it, you want more! That's the other side of MAGA that's not rich, they don't care about money, they care about power! Donald Trump supporters who ain't rich, is a sign of power and control. Since he became a political figure, he's taught people to not hide what they really think and feel. Racism, hate has never been as strong as it been since 2016, the same election that follow the first black president, irony?!? And now we looking at potentially the first woman, what a coincidence eh?!

Go vote! Go vote! Go vote! I don't care where you stand. I have friends and loved ones on both sides, and next week, as for me, that won't change. They'll still be friends; they'll still be loved ones. In four years, they'll still be friends and still be loved ones, if they choose!
Just make your opinion count! It's the right you have, the right he doesn't want you to have! Just like his "allies," in his own words, Putin and Kim Jong-un (MAGA forbid I get his name wrong)—DICTATORS! The choice is truly up to you, the very thing he doesn't want you to have! "No more voting," out of his own mouth!

Happy Election Day, folks! This is by far the biggest one yet, and I'm glad to share it with you. Life is all about experiences, and I'm glad to share this one with you. πŸ’πŸ˜Š

#THOUGHTSWITHACIGAR

#THOUGHTSWITHACIGAR, Think of this as a thread post. Here you will see an ever-growing list of thoughts—not necessarily right or wrong. The truth is, I smoke cigars, and while smoking those cigars, I have a lot of thoughts. Many in which I consider 'deep'. This is where those thoughts get posted. So, ideally, every time you visit this page, this thread will likely be at the top of the page because it's constantly updated and will have a new thought—one that I had while smoking a cigar. Enjoy!

- We have to stop putting such a negative connotation on lying. No matter how you put it, lying is a form of protection. Whether it's yourself or someone else, we lie to protect something or somebody. I have never heard anyone say that protection was negative. The irony of it all is that lying does the exact opposite; in the end, it always inflicts pain on something or somebody, whether that something or someone is the very thing we were trying to protect in the first place. That is why it will NEVER be okay. THAT is the lesson that needs to be learned.

- I was taught and conditioned not to need or want anything from anyone. Look at my life! If I need a mountain moved, I move it myself. I've seen my mother do that my entire life. I ultimately learned that that was not the case even for her, but it is still the lesson I learned from watching her life. It's not a bad thing either. While it's not the only way to do or get things, it's still the most reliable way.

Devil's Lake

These pictures are almost exactly four years apart. The picture on your left had so much going on! First and foremost, COVID, which we all went through, but on my personal journey, at that moment, who knew the storm I was about to endure? I was on the road for work, losing the woman I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I had a ringπŸ’, ready to propose, too. I would have my amazing daughter and I would get the job offer of my dreams, only to lose it because of the color of my skin.

The picture on the right is me now hair longer, beard is gone. Again four years later, after a 17-month legal battle to get my dream job back, now I'm two years into living my dream, living my purpose-driven life of serving each and every one of you, and through the storms of my personal life, this place hasn't changed! 4 years ago the tears here was of surrow and pain. Today it's tears of joy, it's tear of relief, and strength I didn't even know I had. I have a few places in this world, like this, that I consider very sacred places. I challenge you to find a few of your own. It don't have to be in Wisconsin or anywhere other than the place you live in now, find Sacred places that you visit every so often that feed your spirit! Places that remain consistent and remind you that, even though you go through storms in your life, as we all do, if you hang on and persevere, the journey, man, it is bittersweet and worth it πŸ‘ŒπŸΎ πŸ’«

From then until now, there have been many people who hate me for who and what I am. I am fine with that, at least I am not trying to be someone I am not.

Project 2025

If Trump gets elected, it's a playbook for his second term organized by the heritage foundation, it a right wing think tank. He of course claim to have no idea who's behind it, even though 140 or more of his former administration officials, a lot of whom operates like an organized crime family, felon criminals like himself, help to craft it.

23 of the agenda items, from the 922 page playbook that represent a better plan on how to dismantle governmental systems in this country.

  1. End climate protection
  2. Increase Artic drilling
  3. Eliminate free weather forecast
  4. Eliminate public unions

The paradigm shift between our ancestors' love and our love.

The differences between the adults who were our grandparents, who were in their 30s and 40s back in the 70s and who created us, and us who are now in our 30s and 40s, are ultimately few and far between, in my opinion.

Of course, our ancestors did not have nor face the same problems we face in today's world. That's not realistic, considering how much and how many things have changed since then, including how we view the world and dating as a whole.

In my opinion, the biggest difference is the fact that the problems our ancestors faced were more worldly problems—problems outside themselves—that they could only overcome and effect change if they did it as a unit, you know, together. I think the fact that they so greatly needed to lean on each other and depend on each other to make this world a better place for you and me made them love more patiently, love harder, love deeper, love stronger, hence the baby boom.

I can assure you there will not be another baby boom in this world as we know it. Today’s 30-40-something-year-olds (you can even throw the 50s in here too), unlike the ones before us, like to pretend that our worldly problems and issues exist as no part of us. They are there, but we ignore them no matter how clear they are. Also, unlike the ones before us, the things we prioritize are all internal. We prioritize what we want, not need, how to get it, how to get as much of it as possible, and what we have to do to get it all, regardless of the destruction and other people we have to use and sometimes ruin to get it.

It applies not only to men, not only to women, but to all of humanity. Whatever your vice is—money, power/status, or sex (usually the big three we all fall under at least one), among many other things—whatever it is, it is because of this shift and change in core values that the marriage rate is down (which is the only reason the divorce rate is down, coincidentally), why there are fewer babies being born every year, and why more people are single and single later in life than our ancestors were. To our own detriment and destruction, we become more independent and selfishly focused on our own needs, not the needs of the world and, most importantly, the future.

It is for this reason that there's a monumental shift in how humans love each other today compared to how they loved each other back in the day. I guess that leads to the question of where the shift happened. Where was that change? Where did our ancestors go wrong at some point in raising us that they didn't pass that along to us. I guess I better get back to the books and research.

Let me know what your opinion is on this....

πŸ’• My Favorite Week of the Year

Here in the US, it’s Valentine’s Day this week, a (supposedly) romantic holiday. Use this week to reflect on your romantic relationships (or lack of them) and align your actions with your expectations. I’ve observed over the years that many people who are chronically single or struggling in relationships, it’s because they inaccurately gauge what they’re giving and what they’re getting in return.

I'm doing something really special on my social media outlet Wednesday! You don't wanna miss this it's going to be oh so sweet and lovely 😍πŸ₯° Go find and follow me on the outlets.

Happy MLK Day.

Today is Martin Luther Kings Jr day! As I was working yesterday, I took a moment to kind of get still and take in where I was at. Here's a couple of the pics that hang at the 2's house.

I don't think things happen by chance, I also don't think that it was coincidence that out of 50+ people in my class, I was the only one assigned to the 2's house out of the academy. Let me tell you why I love the 2's house. Being honest, The 2's house is the only house that you can go to and actually not just see, but feel diversification, equality, and inclusion. As I've traveled to all the houses in the city in the year or so I've been back, As I proudly state 'where I'm normally at' it's comical what happens to the facial reactions and demeanor of people who ask. Surprisingly(Not) of
course the 2's is the most talked about, and frankly sh!t'd upon houses in the department, even by some of the very people, whom birth of this job started there. They use things like lack of training, no growth/promotion ability, lack of work ethnic(2nd busiest in the city), abilities, I've even heard 'cleanliness of the house is why I hate it there' lol. The truth is the rest of the houses sh!t on the 2's because any given unit day, it's staff is 80% black, and it's the only house where that exist.

I can't know for sure, but I bet that's what Dr. King was going through in his prime of dreaming and marching. It was constant Push back, restrain, oppression-and ultimately led to his assassination- for just wanting to be equal, nothing more than wanting to be respected, seen and heard for living, or in this case doing the very same job, as his peers.

So, yes! Your Goddamn right, there's pride, joy and solace everyday that I put on my uniform and go to work. Regardless rather I'm home at the 2's or traveling to other houses and representing the 2's house loudly and proudly! And when I'm there I'm glad to be HOME, and wouldn't rather be anywhere else! So Thank you Dr. King, and the many who came before me at the 2's, for giving me a home, in a industry/field where you couldn't always find one.

My Allure for Fame

When people ask me as a kid,  if i wanted to be famous and I said yeah, they ask why?

As I grew grown and did things that allowed me to travel and see the world and it's people, I discovered what's been within me forever.  For me it was only so I can have interesting conversations with people. You have to remember I'm just a black African America male who grew up in conservative a$$ Ohio,  most people around Ohio when I was growing up didn't look like me. And Even now people are not really interested in really opening up to have fierce in-depth conversation with someone who looks like me. So why be famous? $#it as a kid, I knew ALL people wanted to talk to famous people.

Will and Jada

I've read Will's so it only makes logical sense that I dive into Jada's. I say logical because it's so easy to listen to others opinions, and fall into the bias of others online who not only hadn't read Will's but certainly haven't took time to get to know Jada, through her bio. I typically don't give energy to celebrate gossip. Will Smith for me, not only made me laugh as a teenager like many of us, but between his movies and following his spiritual path throughout my 20s to even now,  has really help shape me as a man. That makes this situation a little different. While Jada journey not so much had an effect on me, I definitely wanna give the compassion, and kindness to learn her story.

It's so easy to judge and throw stones,  that's all I've heard in the opinions from the internet investigators, but you never know when it can be you. Hell it's been many of you already, maybe not in the spotlight as this relationship has been, but the pains of relationship trauma, family drama, and divorce are all the same. My hope is that we can offer the compassion and kindness too each other when our lives are changing as they constantly do.

We're hard on others because we're hard on ourselves, we're hard on ourselves which make us hard on others. I'm looking forward to learning Jada's story.

3 Big Q's For Life Happiness

Three questions determine 99% of the happiness in your life:

1) What am I working on and why?

2) Who am I spending my time with and why?

3) How well am I treating my body and why?

Everything else is noise.

I challenge you to answer these questions for yourself, rank your answer from strongest to weakest, and finally, do something to make the weakest just a little bit stronger.

1) What am I working on and why?
A lot of the time this question triggers people's inner worth based on their profession or whatever they do to make a living, for me it triggers something different, something deeper. When I read this question, what comes to mind for me is, what can I work on to become a better person, or a less shittier human being each day.

-Be a better listener- There's this thing about listening, did you know you can learn so much more by listening instead of speaking? I feel like in today's world, people feel the need to have the loudest voice, and the loudest opinion and in turn don't do a lot of listening. These days I thrive on being the quiet guy, not just for silence's sake, but so I can be involved with the people I interact with and listen to them. I don't know if this is news to you, but we humans love to talk about ourselves, but because everyone is talking, nobody is listening. Be the listener, my friend, being the listener makes you more likable to the rest of the world who's too busy talking to you about themselves.

-In the word of my man Mark Manson, I'm trying to control the "fucks" I give out. The Motto is to control what you can control and fuck the rest! Seriously, so much stuff that happens in our lives is out of our control, I am working on just not applying emotions to so much of the stuff around me. Stress is a killer, minimize it as much as possible in your life and you'll be better off for it. Half the shit we give our 'fucks' to, in the grand scheme of things, really doesn't matter.

-Relationship(s)! Oh, it's the big one, the R-word. No, this ain't necessarily about intimate relationships with a woman, this is about the most relationship you'll ever have in your life, and that's the relationship with yourself! It bothers me sometimes that it took me til my mid-thirties to understand the importance of a relationship with oneself. The relationship with yourself will be one that your forever working on throughout life as things change around you, and you, yourself change. Simply the relationship you have with you is the root of every other relationship you have outside of you. You teach people how to treat you by how you treat yourself, what you allow in your life, and the boundaries you create for yourself. If you respect yourself and love yourself that's the only way anyone else will. So, I want to be better each day, the avenues to doing that are to try to do nice things every day for every one I cross paths with, Act with integrity in everything I do, and finally, smile! It's the simplest, nicest gesture there is.

2) Who am I spending my time with and why?
This is another one of those things that change through the process of life. As you get older, so do your peers, everyone's life navigates in different directions. I think the most important part to answering this question is, just to be sure whomever you spending your time with be sure they are elevating your life in one aspect or another. There are parts of our lives where we don't have control who we spend time with, like work and family. What you do have complete control over is how much time you spend with family and co-workers. Co-workers are easy, you do not have to have a relationship outside of work with coworkers, hell you don't have to even have a conversation with coworkers in some yall fields of work. Now Family can be more complex to navigate around, but it doesn't have to be. When it comes to family you just have to have a strong NO. No, you don't have to go to the family cookout, No you don't have to go to your 2nd cousin's baptism, No you don't have to endure spending time with your impossible ex to spend time with your kid(s). People typically fall into the guilt trap when it comes to family, if they say no to any family functions, they either guilt themselves or they're showered with guilt by the same family members they trying to avoid. Remember earlier how we talked about 'fucks' giving, yeah, Refer back up to # 1).

3) How well am I treating my body and why?
Okkkkkkkkk, don't everybody slide down in your seat, also wipe the sweat off your head, and don't even think about using that logic being produced in your head to lie, cause it's Bullshit! Have the courage to answer this question honestly, and know that if you don't like the honest answer, well at least you took the first step(acknowledgement) to change it.

As for me, I do a pretty damn good job at taking care of my body, I'm lucky in the sense that I have been involved in some form of sport since I was 5 years old to the present day. Exercise and working out is just a way of life for me, I don't feel I could live without it. It's one of the good addictions in the world.

Ahh, thank God for an easy one... NOT! I'm not going to let myself off the hook that easy, there's so much unhealthy shit I do, that I definitely can be better at when it comes to my health. First and foremost, I drink way too much! And that's even with a cutback. There are so many benefits to not drinking, I can make an entire post about those, but I'm not. Just know that it's a constant battle that I deal with every day, maybe by the time I'm 50 I'll be down to the point of no drinking, that's a big maybe, as unhealthy as it may be, man has it got me through some tough life storms. Ah don't judge, you too have your vice, that ain't as good as prayer and meditation.

Smoking! Now that's the one I have a better chance of quitting. Another bad habit and mistreatment of my body, but it is also a vice, literally hitting a stogie right now smh 🀦🏽.

Everything else is noise.
Take the challenge for yourself, and you don't have to be an idiot like myself and put it on a blog for the world to see. These three questions open you up to view every aspect of your life. If you are solid in all these questions and you stand on your answers, that's awesome keep up the great work and build on what you already produced. If you're like 99% of us and you discover some things that need work or need to be changed, then do the work and take the necessary steps to make the changes, that's the beauty of having the privilege of being alive. These three questions will determine 99% of the happiness you have in your life, you'll never get to 100% sorry.

Strong Back, Soft Front, Wild Heart

All too often our so-called strength comes from fear, not love; instead of having a strong back, many of us have a defended front shielding a weak spine. In other words, we walk around brittle and defensive, trying to conceal our lack of confidence. If we strengthen our backs, metaphorically speaking, and develop a spine that’s flexible but sturdy, then we can risk having a front that’s soft and open….How can we give and accept care with strong-back, soft-front compassion, moving past fear into a place of genuine tenderness? I believe it comes about when we can be truly transparent, seeing the world clearly, and letting the world see into us.

Stay Out of Small Towns

Jason Aldean has been around and making music long enough, he not only knew what the undertones of this song was, he also knew the subliminal messaging it was going to give, and 100% what he was doing. He also didn't care.

I think it's kind of odd that he was performing at the Vegas massacre, but that wasn't featured in the video. So I take it, that mass shootings is okay in the 'small town' just not protest from the oppressed?

I'm okay with how people feel and even how they think, Not caring is fine, just have the courage to stand on that messaging, don't chicken-shit and cry ignorance when you get called on it.

So In the midst of it all, he come to 'small town' Cincinnati and have his first sold out show of the tour go figure. It's like the same way Morgan Wallen became the #1 country artist After using the N word, This song will hit #1 on the charts. 'Merica πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²

Actuality of Love and Marriage from Someone Who Never Been Married

The older I get the more I heard that grandiose question, will you ever marry and settle down? First and foremost, for me, we have to throw the 'settle down' out the window. Settling for anything just makes me automatically go into a mood, that this is something I SHOULDN'T do. Rather it be settle for this oppose to that, settle a case, settle for a girl,  settle for a situation, settle=FUCK NO!

But anyways....

I remember when I was young, love and marriage were these nebulous concepts that would happen some time in my future. I would often wonder or daydream who I would marry, how I would meet her, how we would get engaged, what the wedding would be like, etc., etc. I think this is pretty normal for most young people.

What I never fantasized about was what life would be like AFTER marriage. I never sat around and thought about how we would fight, how we would share toothpaste, who would take the kids to school, how we would negotiate and compromise, what our fifth anniversary would look like, not to mention our 50th.

That's because these things aren't exciting or sexy. In fact, they're quite the opposite. They're quotidian and boring. Yet, they are actually what constitute the majority of a relationship, the majority of love.

My fantasies about love — like most people's — were limited to pretty much the beginning of the life cycle of a relationship. They were filled of romantic visions of sleepless nights filled with wild passionate sex, fun getaways to exciting location, bathtubs full of rose petals and bubbles and shit. It was awesome.

But looking back, I was unrealistic about relationships and love. And I think that really screwed me up in a number of ways (if anything, it made me more afraid of commitment, because I thought it was a much bigger deal than it actually was).

To The One Who Got Away

A intimate letter to Maggie (Revised from March 1, 2015)

I figure that conversation we was supposed to have, at this point, is never going to happen. Its perfectly fine, I now understand that there's nothing that needs to be said that can't be said over another outlet of communication, such as this one. I will say that I AM SORRY, I APOLOGIZE for not being the man you yearn for and not being the man you desire. I WAS NOT A GOOD BOYFRIEND, I DID NOT GIVE YOU MY BEST. I only realize that I didn't give you my best now, because all of the things I wish to give you now, as  I sit her today, now that it's to late. I'm not sure where that fire and desire, that burns in my soul now, where it has been the last two years. I apologize that I realize that now, that it is too late. What I am certain of is that, all things in life are lesson that god may have us learn. This entire situation was meant to teach me a lesson and its working perfectly. See I never ever thought I would ever love on this level again, I NEVER EVER though I would desire to be everything and more for one woman as much as I desire to be for you.I though I was incapable. I never ever though I would desire a woman the way I desire you, I never ever though I would plan my future with a woman included again. I NEVER EVER though I would desire to be everything and more for one woman as much as I desire to be for you. For me, all that hope and faith went out the door, when my high school sweetheart dump me on senior trip back some 8 years ago. All that I thought I was incapable of, by the grace of god I see I am very capable of again. Unfortunately it took this situation, and another shattered heart to realize it. My faith has been restored, I now know that God will grant me another chance, I don't know with whom or when, but I know he will, the same way he granted me the chance, again with you. I let you, his angel, slip away from me, and I'm kicking myself for it. I don't know if he'll ever put you back in my life, what I want you to know is that, YOU have taught me a lesson in life, that will change my life for the better, for the rest of my life. I have learned, through you, that I can and will love again, the way I always desired too, Because of you honey I will be a better boyfriend in the future, and an extraordinary husband as well, someday. I don't know what the future holds, however I want you to know that I am forever grateful to you for your time, for your being, for every moment shared, for the lesson in which i learned through this experience with you. You have help shape a good man into an even better man, may God bless you for that! Your are forever loved in my heart and soul, again THANK YOU!

Surrender

You too are going to die, and that’s because you too were fortunate enough to have lived. You may not feel this. But go stand on a cliff sometime, and maybe you will. Bukowski once wrote, “We’re all going to die, all of us. What a circus! That alone should make us love each other, but it doesn’t. We are terrorized and flattened by life’s trivialities; we are eaten up by nothing.”

the primary lesson was this: there is nothing to be afraid of. Ever. And reminding myself of my own death repeatedly over the years—whether it be through meditation, through reading philosophy, or through doing crazy shit like standing on a cliff; is the only thing that has helped me hold this realization front and center in my mind. This acceptance of my death, this understanding of my own fragility, has made everything easier—untangling my addictions, identifying and confronting my own entitlement, accepting responsibility for my own problems—suffering through my fears and uncertainties, accepting my failures and embracing rejections—it has all been made lighter by the thought of my own death. The more I peer into the darkness, the brighter life gets, the quieter the world becomes, and the less unconscious resistance I feel to, well, anything.
